The common agricultural policy after 2013
Commissioner Dacian Cioloş will be one of the main speakers at the conference “Towards a new common agricultural policy”, hosted by the Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in Copenhagen 26 April 2010
What will be the future shape of the common agricultural policy, and what are the biggest challenges after 2013? These are the main questions to be debated at the conference “Towards a new common agricultural policy” in Copenhagen.
“The debate on our common agricultural policy is going to accelerate this spring, and with participation of the EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural development, members of the EU-Parliament and members of the European Agricultural Council I expect the conference here in Copenhagen to highlight the most important challenges of the future Common Agricultural Policy. The reform is likely to be negotiated during the Danish presidency in the spring 2012, so to me it is evident, that Denmark contributes to the public debate at this stage,” says Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Henrik Høegh.
The EU Commission is going to launch a public debate on the common agricultural policy post 2013 this spring, and is expected to present legal proposals in 2011. The Commission, the EU-Parliament and the Council are to agree on a reform before 2013.
As contributors to the conference in Copenhagen Danish Food minister Henrik Høegh has invited several prominent players: The new Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Cioloş, the chair of EU- Parliament committee for Agriculture and Rural development, Paolo De Castro, rapporteur on the EU- Parliament’s report on future agricultural policy, George Lyon, Polish Agricultural Minister, Marek Sawicki, the Agricultural Minister of the Netherlands Gerda Verburg and the German Minister of Agriculture, Ilse Aigner.
