Commercial Fisheries

 

Fishing is an important trade in Denmark. There are about 3.400 fishing vessels. About 5.400 people, incl. the owners of the vessels, work as fishermen. There are about 6.500 people employed in the fishing industry.

 

The total value of the catches is about 2.7 billion DKR (0.36 billion €). The value of the total export of fishery products, incl. products based on imported raw material, is 16.5 billion DKR (2.2 billion €).

 

The information on these pages is focused on the Danish fishermen and the fishing trade. The headlines are:

 

  • Regulation of the fishing activities. It includes updated information on regulation of the various species of fish.
  • Inspection. There are descriptions of different kinds of inspection elements and of inspection procedures depending on the type of fishing.
  • Requirements. There are certain requirements to the fishing vessel, the fishermen and to the first buyer of the fish.
  • Committee for Commercial Fisheries. The committee with representatives from the fishing trade and industry gives advice on regulation, inspection and other relevant issues.
